Overall, the yogis are mainly women, 80 per cent to be precise, with 6 out of 10 respondents being aged between 18 and 44

Yoga is a lucrative business, with American yoga practitioners spending around $10.3 billion annually on this discipline, between yoga classes, yoga equipment, yoga clothing and other yoga products.

Yoga practitioners went on to disclose their motivation for undertaking yoga. Over three quarters of practitioners do so to improve flexibility, overall conditioning, stress management, improved health and fitness levels were other popular motivational factors.

The results of this survey highlight the immense popularity of yoga in the States. It adds to the general health of the nation and improved personal wellbeing which can only be positive.
